Employment Opportunities at OTTLEY MUSIC SCHOOL

Teaching Position:

VOICE TEACHER Requirements:

1.  Degree and at least 3 years experience in voice pedagogy.

2.  Can play the piano to accompany his/her lessons, including technical exercises and vocal works.

3.  Believes in teaching children.

4.  Works toward exciting the students to learn and to perform, every month in school recitals, if possible, at all levels.

5.  Is interested in teaching the students a variety of genres including Art Songs, folk songs, arias from oratorio, opera, and musicals, Spirituals and Gospel, and some popular, especially from artists who were trained singers.

Public Relations Officer  


Public Relations Volunteer

Volunteer needed to work with our Public Relations Officer of the Ottley Music School Board to put the Ottley Music School out in the public and to keep it out there in mind.  Music Business Intern would be ideal.  Graphic Artist is good but not required.  Writer is great. There are monthly recitals, a Concert Series (4 concerts for 2008-2009)

Volunteers Needed

  • STAGE HANDS to help set up and break down for recitals and concerts. Students in high school will be able to accrue Community Service credits. Attire: All Black, long sleeved or T-shirts, slacks or black jeans, black comfortable shoes and socks. Call the office for the recital dates and time of appointments 301-454-0991

  • MUSIC LIBRARIANS needed to repair and file music, set out music for weekly rehearsals (Tuesdays 7:00-8:50 pm). Set up a database with the works that are already in the music library.

  • MUSICIANS FOR THE HYATTSVILLE SYMPHONY: violins, violas, basses, clarinet, oboe, trumpet, French horns, trombones, percussionists. Volunteer work, students should be able to receive academic credit (must be approved by your department head or major professor if in college) and for Community Service (for middle and high school students).
