Keith Preddie, B.Sc.
Ottley Music School boasts of having the Legendary Keith Preddie as the Pan teacher. Mr. Preddie is credited as bring the Steel Drums or Pan to the DMV. He has been playing the pan since he was a teenager, now almost 69 years of experience.
Mr. Preddie is a Howard University scholarship student, graduating in Engineering. Even though he worked in that field, he has always worked in teaching and performing on the pans.
The activities of Mr. Preddie include playing for President Nixon’s inaugural parade, for President Ronald Regan, for Vice President Hubert Humphrey, and as a friend of Robert Kennedy, playing at his home for numerous occasions, also for Mayor Muriel Bowser, Sammy Davis, and other luminaries. He as appeared on stage with Jimmy Durante, Count Basie, and others, and in TV shows with Liberace and other famous personalities.
Mr. Preddie was responsible for working with young pannists and establishing them in Bands when they arrive from other countries. He brings to Ottley Music School his decades of experience in training young people as well as adults in pan playing.
