Vaughn P. Andrews
Flute Teacher
Mr. Andrews, a flute teacher, comes from a music education family, as his dad, Dr. Vernon. Andrews is a professor at the University of the Southern Caribbean, Vaughn grew up in music. He liked the flute as a youth and taught himself to play it through following flute technique books.
Mr. Andrews studied music–piano lessons with teachers at the university, Cynthia Ward and Rosalyn Ward, clarinet lessons with Mervyn Joseph, and music theory with Cynthia. Ward and his father, Dr. Vernon Andrews, passed the Royal Schools of Music, England exams.
Besides that education, his development as a musician came primarily through playing flute and singing tenor, baritone, and bass in a different church, church-related groups such as the MetroSingers of Hyattsville, MD over the years in the Caribbean, Canada, Europe, and in the USA, as well as doing solo work primarily on flute. He teaches beginner and intermediate-level flute.
Besides music, Mr. Andrews is an accounting and financial services specialist with
many years of experience in asset management, property accounting, banking, business management, and lease administration. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Administration from Andrews University in Michigan.
